October 30, 2019 marks the National Day of Remembrance for Nuclear Weapons Program Workers. This year will be the 11th anniversary of this event honoring the tens of thousands of men and women who tirelessly served our country by building and maintaining our nuclear weapons complex for the defense of the United States during World War II, throughout the Cold War, and into the present day.
Our nuclear weapons workers came to work day after day, putting in long hours to perform what was often hazardous work, in order to help keep this country safe. Many workers toiled in secrecy, often unable to tell their friends and loved ones what they were doing. There was tremendous pressure to produce and keep pace during the arms race. The work of these men and women resulted in astounding innovation and technological progress, both for weapons programs and domestic applications, such as computing and nuclear medicine, among many others.
成人视频appToday, the men and women of our nuclear weapons enterprise continue this proud tradition. These dedicated public servants are maintaining a safe, secure, and effective nuclear deterrent, reducing nuclear dangers around the world, remediating the impacts, and pushing the boundaries of science and technology to deliver new solutions to national and global challenges.
On this National Day of Remembrance, let us reflect on the significant contributions of our nuclear security workers, both past and present, and thank them for their service.
